2016’s EMMY’s Biggest SNUBS

First of all, I have to say that this year Emmy’s noms are a huge disappointment. That’s right…

Even though they’ve decided not to ignore Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany AGAIN, they left out Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, that’s one of many snubs they continue doing on the Academy TV Awards.

For them, it’s all about race and LGBT inclusiveness, not acting or creativity. That’s why we still see Viola Davis playing herself in How to get away Murder nominated on a main category. And also this transgender “comedy” that no one gets.

The Academy still manages to discriminate by fiction genre and that’s it. If you’re a horror, sci fi or fantasy flick… forget about it, no matter if it’s really good. They only take serious Game of Thrones.

So, to begin… let’s start with the big WHAT WERE YOU THINKING? Regarding some nominees that doesn’t make any sense:

GameofThronesJonSnow

Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones) – Best Supporting Actor Drama:

Are you kidding me? Jon Snow? Acting? Really? I mean, yeah, we all love the honorable man, but still he doesn’t act. It’s a joke that they took so long to nominate Maisie Williams and when they do, they threw also Kit on the mix. It’s kind of insulting.

Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) – Best Supporting Actress Drama:

Please stop nominating Emilia, she’s a great actress but not on Game of Thrones. She has some “moments” but still, not at the same level of other of her co-workers, Gwendoline Christie is an example of that and never recognized by the Emmys.

Viola Davis (How to get away with Murder) – Best Actress Drama:

Stop it. It’s not that impressive. She portrays a strong felted African-American woman. Isn’t that who she is?

Aziz Ansari (Master of None) – Best Actor Comedy:

He’s not funny, period. He’s only a way of the Academy to say “we’re inclusive and not a bunch of racists”… to avoid the #OscarsoWhite hashtag. That’s it. The same goes with Jeffrey Tambor on this category, but regarding the LGBT Community.

There’s plenty of more big HUH? In this nominees, but I rather expand on the big SNUBS of the season, that are simply too absurd to explain.

Here we go, the actual SNUBS of this nomination list:

Rachel Bloom (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) – Best Actress Comedy:

The fact that the disgusting Amy Schumer is taking the place of Rachel Bloom in this category it’s why Donald Trump is running for President, as plain as that. Mediocrity and resentment. Rachel Bloom won the Golden Globe and gets left out by this people. I have not words to explain my anger. She’s BRILLIANT. She composes music, dancing, scripting, acting, lighting, you name it! She’s not setting an awful example around to make a show, like Schumer.

Freddie Highmore (Bates Motel) – Best Actor Drama:

This season we saw Freddie transitioning brilliantly into the Norman Bates actual Psycho role and he gets ignored by the Academy. Again, the discrimination with this type of stories and minor Networks. It’s unthinkable he gets snubbed, but it happened.

Eva Green (Penny Dreadful) – Best Actress Drama:

There’s no way to explain how GENIOUS Eva is on Vanessa Yves skin. She’s full of emotions, darkness and deformity in contrast with a pretty frightened persona. She was recognized with a Golden Globe nomination, but the Academy preferred not to get the HT regarding “racism”. So, they left the French beau out.

Damian Lewis (Billions) – Best Actor Drama:

It’s not a surprise that Damian was brilliant on Billions. He wasn’t actually a villain nor a hero. It was a fine line in between. He managed to nail it. And got ignored anyway.

pilot

Bobby Cannavale (Vinyl) – Best Actor Drama:

The fact that Cannavale and Vinyl didn’t get recognized at ALL it reminds us that the Academy is a business and mix with the fact that HBO recently decided not to renew the show, it doesn’t seem profitable to them to get recognized as they should. Vinyl, Cannavale and the whole cast were AMAZING, there’s no word for it, it was a sure bet for award season, so this is like the biggest joke of the night.

Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel) – Best Supporting Actress Drama:

As Freddie, Vera is the show. She’s breathtaking on every scene this season. Her two versions of Norma Bates are incredible and remind a little of Tatiana Maslany on Orphan Black portraying many characters.

John Bernthal (Marvel’s Daredevil) – Best Supporting Actor Drama:

As predicted, the Academy doesn’t respect the comic and graphic novel genre. But if they did, Bernthal should be nominated for his role as the Punisher on Daredevil. It is simply violent and heart felted. Tip of the Iceberg.

Penny-Dreadful-307-14

Billie Piper (Penny Dreadful) – Best Supporting Actress Drama:

This is the other one who steals the show. Piper manages to inspire fear, power and many tearful moments on Penny Dreadful. She transitioned over several types of personalities and landed on this brilliant maniac. Bur still, is like she doesn’t exist on the Academy’s radar.

Justin-Theroux-in-The-Leftovers-Season-2-Episode-8.jpg

Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) – Best Actor Drama:

I don’t get it… Why the Leftovers keeps getting left out? It’s absurd. Theroux is brilliant and I can point out several cast members on this show that steal the thunder from time to time: Liv Tyler, Christopher Eccleston, Amy Brenneman, Carrie Coon and Regina King. Why the Academy doesn’t get it already?

David Tennant (Marvel’s Jessica Jones) – Best Supporting Actor Drama:

Then again, the Academy doesn’t pay attention to base on comic shows. Tennant though, brought a brilliant performance stealing the whole attention of Jessica Jones first season. His manipulative charm frightened the audience a lot and that’s just brilliant acting.

There’s plenty more to go on about the SNUBS, not only in the acting categories, but in writing, directing, show and a big etcetera. But this are the main ones.

Soon I’ll make a list of shows that aired this years that are too BRILLIANT to be ignored and we’ll see if it doesn’t happen.

By far I can also say to the Academy, Saul is not Walter White, you’re not making a second “Breaking Bad” moment by getting attention with them, so cut it off.

I’ll keep you posted with what’s good on TV.
