(Be Warned, this post contains major SPOILERS)

It’s raining outside, I would say, it’s a perfect setting for my current mood. The gothic masterpiece Penny Dreadful was cancelled, or ended as they say and without a hint of a warning, and that’s cruel.

Writers that tend to be the creators of a show, are like a plague. When it comes a well-known time called “when your creation gets too big for you to handle” and that’s it, kill it.

The lucky Penny, unfortunately got to spectacular with its spiral of classic horror storylines with amazing dramatic characters, but Oscar winner John Logan had to ruin the end by cutting it in its prime.

He said that was his plan, but its hard to believe, Showtime wanted the show to go on, it wasn’t about ratings, it was doing pretty good, Logan probably got involved in something else or simply got bored or whatever… the fact is that this is unacceptable, and many fans feels the same.

Eva Green (Vanessa Ives), Billie Piper (Lilly) and Rory Kinnear (John Clare) stole the show, they were it. And their stories were unfinished.

We saw Vanessa fighting against the darkness in some brilliant acting for three whole seasons and finally she succumbs and starts a horror apocalypse, that didn’t pan out as expected, it was weak on storytelling, it almost made everyone think that this could be extended on season four, like when you have a huge battle, but no, it was all a joke on Logan’s hand.

Vanessa dies as a final act of mercy by her lover’s hand, Mr. Chandler. A gun shot? Yes, really. You apparently could kill the darkest thing in town with a colt.

There would be a time, when I’m not so heartbroken and disappointed that I would sit down and write a huge piece on how amazing was this show and probably how it could be extended, many characters were left hanging. And the introduction of Dr. Jekyll was stupid, don’t bring a story like that if you’re not going to develop it.
