Como es costumbre, cercana a la fecha del Oscar, lanzamos nuestras predicciones sobre quienes creemos se consagraran o deben consagrarse con la estatuilla.

OSCAR WEEK: Tres de las Mejores Películas

Siguiendo en el furor de la semana previa al Oscar 2014, nos pasamos por tres de los films que están compitiendo en la categoría de mejor película del año: 12 Years a Slave, Philomena y Her.

A pesar de todo pronóstico, espero que la Academia este año se digne a conceder el galardón no solo a la mejor película, sino a la que cumpla su propósito, entretener a la audiencia.

12 years a Slave, es lo que yo diría mucho escándalo sin tanta sustancia. No es una película inolvidable, de esas que pasan a ser hitos del cine.  A pesar de algunas actuaciones memorables, como la de Michael Fassbender, es un guión que carece de tridimensionalidad. Aquello que permite al cast profundizar en sus personajes y realmente llegar al clímax dramático.  Lupita Nyong’o, nominada como Mejor Actriz Secundaria, no aporta gran cosa a su personaje. Se siente el drama evidentemente, pero como digo, al guión le falta muchisimo. Está tan mal estructurado, que no se siente el pasar de los doce años. Honestamente considero que la película tiene un fuerte en cinematografía, pero no pasa de ahí.

Philomena por otro lado, llevada por la grande Judy Dench, es una película con mayor profundidad de guión que 12 years a Slave.  Judy Dench al lado de Steve Coogan, cargan una historia real con un peso emocional increíble. Cumple el propósito de entretener a la audiencia, te mantiene atrapado todo el film. Realmente tiene mucha fuerza, es indiscutible. Mientras que 12 years a Slave aburre.

Her de Spike Jonze, es un guión fenomenal, con un paradigma sustentable que evoluciona durante todo el film de manera impecable. Es una pieza digna de ser vista, Joaquin Phoenix es genial, lo comprobó hace unos cuantos años. Scarlett Johansson también lo es. La dirección de fotografía es hermosa, la dirección de arte inigualable, un espectáculo visual. Lo único criticable es la subjetividad del director en el tema de vestuario, me parece que con esto quería atacar al fenómeno “hipster” y enganchar a ese target, es la única explicación lógica y lo que yo calificaría como la debilidad del film. No dudo que gane Mejor Guión Original.
